Terms
Terms for using BIM Detail and publishing company, Product and construction-detail information.
Publishing
Version 2026-09-10. These responsibilities apply to company and individual publications.
When an authorised representative publishes for a company, that company is the publisher and is responsible for the accuracy, authenticity, completeness and lawful use of the information it supplies. These responsibilities apply whether company verification is complete or pending. A person publishing on their own account is responsible for their own content. You must have authority to act for the publishing company; a brand name or logo alone does not establish that authority.
Publishers must have a reasonable basis and appropriate evidence for product performance, testing, certification, compliance and suitability claims. Identify applicable standards, jurisdictions, tested configurations, installation requirements, limitations and relevant dates. Do not imply certification or approval that has not been obtained. Keep published information current, correct material errors promptly, and notify BIM Detail if information is unsafe, misleading or infringes another person’s rights. Publishers retain their legal duties as manufacturers, importers, suppliers or designers, including applicable building product information obligations.
Publish only material that you own or have permission to use, including models, images, logos, technical documents and personal information. You authorise BIM Detail to store, reproduce and display submitted material as needed to provide the publishing, viewing and sharing features you choose. This permission does not transfer ownership of your material. Identify third-party sources and do not present a compilation or reference to a manufacturer’s product as manufacturer-authorised content without permission.
BIM Detail provides tools for hosting, authoring, presenting and sharing information. Hosting a publication does not mean BIM Detail designed, manufactured, tested, certified or approved the product, or assessed its suitability for a particular project. Company verification is an identity and representative-authority check, not technical certification or an endorsement of published claims. BIM Detail remains responsible for its own statements, contributions and legal obligations; staff-created material must not be attributed to a manufacturer merely because it uses that manufacturer’s branding.
Users must check current manufacturer information, the intended configuration and local requirements, and obtain suitably qualified professional advice where needed before specifying or installing a product. BIM Detail may restrict access or remove content to address credible safety, rights or accuracy concerns. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights, remedies or obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable New Zealand consumer and fair trading protections. New Zealand law applies subject to mandatory protections applicable elsewhere.
